Terms of Service

1) Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of corebackend.dev, including CoreLabs and any other pages, materials, tools, resources, or features made available through the website (collectively, the “Site”).

The Site is operated by CoreBackend LLC, a California member-managed limited liability company (“CoreBackend,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

By accessing or using the Site, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Site.

If you access or use the Site on behalf of a company, organization, or other legal entity, you represent that you have authority to bind that entity to these Terms.

2) CoreBackend and Our Services

CoreBackend provides backend engineering, software development, software architecture, systems integration, cloud infrastructure, performance and reliability engineering, and related consulting and technical services (“Services”).

Information about our Services on the Site is provided for general informational and marketing purposes and does not constitute a binding offer, proposal, warranty, or commitment.

Any professional engagement with CoreBackend is governed by a separate written agreement, such as a proposal, statement of work (“SOW”), master services agreement (“MSA”), nondisclosure agreement (“NDA”), or other agreement executed by the applicable parties.

If there is a conflict between these Terms and a separately executed agreement governing Services, the separately executed agreement controls with respect to those Services.

3) CoreLabs

CoreLabs is CoreBackend’s collection of educational and technical materials relating to backend engineering, software development, distributed systems, infrastructure, reliability, programming, and related subjects.

CoreLabs may include, among other things:

books and courses;
chapters and articles;
diagrams and illustrations;
source-code examples;
exercises and tests;
benchmarks and experiments;
reference implementations;
downloadable materials;
repositories;
labs and projects; and
other educational or technical resources.

Access to CoreLabs

CoreBackend may make some CoreLabs materials available publicly without charge.

Other materials may in the future be offered as previews, paid products, subscriptions, licensed resources, team offerings, or through other access models.

The fact that any CoreLabs material is publicly accessible at a particular time does not mean that it will remain publicly accessible or free of charge indefinitely.

We may add, remove, modify, reorganize, restrict, or change access to CoreLabs materials at any time.

Any rights associated with a paid purchase, subscription, or license will be governed by the terms presented in connection with that offering.

Educational Purpose

CoreLabs is provided for educational and informational purposes.

Although we aim to produce technically rigorous material, software systems, programming languages, libraries, cloud platforms, security practices, APIs, and industry standards change over time.

You are responsible for independently evaluating, testing, and validating any technique, architecture, code, configuration, benchmark, or recommendation before relying on it in a production environment.

CoreLabs does not constitute legal, financial, accounting, compliance, cybersecurity, or other regulated professional advice.

4) Intellectual Property

Unless otherwise expressly stated, the Site and all original materials made available through it are owned by or licensed to CoreBackend and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual-property laws.

This includes, without limitation:

CoreLabs course and book text;
chapter structure and exercises;
diagrams and illustrations;
original code examples;
benchmarks and experiments;
case studies;
architecture diagrams;
website copy;
graphics;
branding;
logos;
downloadable materials; and
the organization and presentation of those materials.

Nothing in these Terms transfers ownership of CoreBackend intellectual property to you.

Nothing in these Terms grants you a license to use the CoreBackend, CoreLabs, or related names, logos, trademarks, trade dress, or branding except with our prior written permission.

5) Permitted Use of CoreLabs Materials

Subject to these Terms, CoreBackend grants you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to access and view publicly available CoreLabs materials for personal learning, professional development, and internal evaluation.

You may:

read and study publicly available CoreLabs materials;
link to CoreLabs pages;
share links to individual chapters or resources;
quote brief portions of CoreLabs materials with reasonable attribution;
apply ideas, techniques, concepts, and engineering principles you learn through CoreLabs in your own work; and
run and modify individual code examples for learning and evaluation, subject to any separate license accompanying the code.

This permission does not transfer ownership of any CoreLabs material.

6) Code Examples and Repositories

Some CoreLabs materials contain source code, configuration examples, test code, scripts, or reference implementations.

If a particular repository, project, download, or code sample includes a separate software license, that license governs your use of that material.

If no separate license is provided, the code remains copyrighted by CoreBackend and may be used for personal learning and internal evaluation under these Terms.

You may apply the underlying programming concepts, algorithms, architecture patterns, and techniques in your own software.

Unless a separate license expressly permits it, you may not reproduce or redistribute substantial collections of CoreLabs source code, exercises, solutions, repositories, or reference implementations as a competing educational or commercial product.

All code is provided without warranty. You are responsible for reviewing, testing, securing, and validating code before using it in any production system.

7) Prohibited Use of CoreLabs Content

Unless you have our prior written permission or a separate license expressly allows it, you may not:

reproduce or republish substantial portions of a CoreLabs book, course, chapter, or other resource;
mirror or host CoreLabs materials on another website, application, repository, or platform;
sell, sublicense, rent, or redistribute CoreLabs materials;
place CoreLabs content behind your own paywall;
repackage CoreLabs materials into another book, course, training program, certification program, or educational product;
use substantial portions of CoreLabs materials in commercial training or corporate training materials;
remove copyright, attribution, trademark, or other proprietary notices;
falsely represent CoreLabs materials as your own;
create substantially derivative educational materials based primarily on CoreLabs content;
systematically download, scrape, extract, or archive substantial portions of CoreLabs content;
use automated systems to create a substitute or mirror of CoreLabs; or
use CoreLabs content to train, fine-tune, create datasets for, or materially improve an artificial-intelligence or machine-learning model without our prior written permission.

Standard search-engine indexing that respects our technical access controls, including applicable robots.txt directives, is not prohibited by this section.

If you are interested in licensing CoreLabs content for education, corporate training, publishing, internal company use, or another commercial purpose, contact us.

8) Sharing and Attribution

We encourage readers to share links to CoreLabs materials.

You may also reproduce brief excerpts for commentary, discussion, review, or reference, provided that:

the excerpt is reasonably limited in scope;
it does not substitute for the original material;
it is not presented as your own work; and
you provide reasonable attribution to CoreLabs and, where practical, a link to the original page.

Nothing in these Terms limits any rights you may have under applicable law, including applicable exceptions and limitations to copyright.

9) Future Paid CoreLabs Offerings

CoreBackend may in the future offer paid CoreLabs products or services, including, for example:

complete courses;
books or downloadable editions;
exercise solutions;
source-code repositories;
labs;
reference implementations;
subscriptions;
premium memberships;
workshops;
corporate training;
team licenses; or
other educational products.

The price, scope of access, duration, refund or cancellation policy, and any additional license terms applicable to a paid offering will be disclosed in connection with that offering.

You will not be required to purchase a future paid offering merely because you previously accessed publicly available CoreLabs materials.

Additional terms presented at checkout or at the time of purchase may supplement these Terms. If those additional terms conflict with these Terms regarding a particular paid offering, the additional terms will control for that offering.

10) No Guarantee of Continued Availability

We may revise, update, correct, reorganize, replace, restrict, or discontinue any part of the Site or CoreLabs.

Course syllabi, chapter counts, development roadmaps, projected release dates, build statuses, and planned materials are informational and may change.

A reference to material as “planned,” “mapped,” “queued,” “in development,” “draft,” or similar language does not constitute a promise that the material will be completed or released by a particular date.

We do not guarantee that any particular Site content will remain available permanently.

11) Acceptable Use

You agree not to misuse the Site.

You may not:

interfere with or disrupt the normal operation of the Site;
attempt to gain unauthorized access to systems, accounts, networks, or data;
probe, scan, or test vulnerabilities without our express authorization;
introduce malware, malicious code, or harmful content;
intentionally impose an unreasonable load on the Site or its infrastructure;
bypass access controls or technical restrictions;
use automated methods to access the Site in violation of these Terms;
use the Site in violation of applicable law; or
use the Site to infringe the rights of CoreBackend or any third party.

We may restrict or terminate access where we reasonably believe these Terms have been violated.

12) Feedback

If you voluntarily provide suggestions, ideas, corrections, comments, or other feedback about the Site, CoreLabs, or our Services (“Feedback”), you grant CoreBackend the right to use that Feedback without restriction or obligation to you.

This does not transfer ownership of materials you submit for another expressly agreed purpose.

Please do not send confidential or proprietary information through general Feedback channels unless we have agreed in writing to receive it confidentially.

13) Third-Party Services and Links

The Site may reference, embed, link to, or rely on third-party websites, software, services, platforms, APIs, libraries, repositories, or tools.

Examples may include hosting, analytics, form-processing, cloud providers, source-code hosting, or external technical resources.

Your use of third-party services is governed by the applicable provider’s terms and policies.

CoreBackend does not control and is not responsible for third-party services, websites, availability, security, accuracy, content, or practices.

A reference or link to a third party does not necessarily constitute an endorsement.

14) No Warranties

THE SITE, CORELABS MATERIALS, CODE EXAMPLES, EXERCISES, DIAGRAMS, BENCHMARKS, DOWNLOADS, AND OTHER CONTENT ARE PROVIDED ON AN “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” BASIS.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, COREBACKEND DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, ACCURACY, RELIABILITY, AND AVAILABILITY.

WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT:

the Site will always be available or error-free;
all content will always be complete or current;
code examples will be suitable for your particular system;
an architecture or technique will produce a particular result;
benchmark results will reproduce in your environment; or
use of any material will prevent software defects, security incidents, data loss, outages, or other failures.

Software behavior depends on architecture, workload, environment, configuration, dependencies, runtime versions, infrastructure, and many other factors.

You are responsible for validating any material before relying on it.

15) Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, COREBACKEND LLC AND ITS MEMBERS, MANAGERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, BUSINESS OPPORTUNITY, GOODWILL, DATA, OR USE, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO:

your use of or inability to use the Site;
your reliance on Site or CoreLabs content;
your use of code, architectures, examples, or techniques described on the Site; or
unauthorized access to or alteration of your data.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, COREBACKEND’S TOTAL LIABILITY FOR CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO THE SITE OR PUBLICLY AVAILABLE SITE CONTENT SHALL NOT EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US$100).

Different limitations may apply to separately purchased products or professional Services where expressly provided in the applicable agreement.

16) Indemnification

To the maximum extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless CoreBackend LLC and its members, managers, employees, contractors, and agents from and against claims, liabilities, damages, losses, costs, and expenses, including reasonable attorneys’ fees, arising out of or relating to:

your violation of these Terms;
your misuse of the Site;
your unauthorized reproduction or distribution of CoreBackend content;
your infringement of another person’s rights; or
your unlawful use of the Site.

17) Privacy

Your use of the Site is also governed by our Privacy Policy.

By using the Site, you acknowledge that information may be collected, processed, and used as described in that policy, including our use of Google Analytics 4 (GA4).

If you subscribe to CoreLabs updates, release notifications, or other communications, information you provide through those forms will be handled in accordance with the Privacy Policy.

18) Changes to the Site and These Terms

We may modify the Site or these Terms from time to time.

When we update these Terms, we will revise the “Last Updated” date at the top of this page.

Changes take effect when posted unless otherwise stated.

Your continued use of the Site after updated Terms take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

If we introduce paid products or subscriptions, additional terms may be presented before purchase or enrollment.

19) Governing Law and Venue

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles.

Exclusive jurisdiction and venue for any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Site shall be in the state and federal courts located in Sacramento County, California.

You and CoreBackend consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.

20) Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable, that provision will be enforced to the maximum extent permitted by law, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

21) No Waiver

Our failure to enforce any provision of these Terms does not waive our right to enforce that provision or any other provision later.

22) Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and any other policies expressly incorporated by reference, constitute the agreement between you and CoreBackend regarding your use of the Site.

Separate written agreements govern professional Services and any paid products where applicable.
